Our Lady of Fatima varsity boys basketball team defeated All Saints, 34-33, in the final game of the year to win the St. Annes March Madness title.
The evenly matched teams were knotted up at 17 at the break and then traded leads throughout the second half. The game was a flurry of great defensive stands and rebounding by a fired-up Falcons squad. Their timely offensive spurts proved to be the difference as they outlasted the All Saints team to win the tournament final in front of a capacity crowd.
This was the Fatima boys final game together in a Falcons uniform. Many of these young men have been playing together for six years with great success. Their final season record was 24?6, culminating in the big win Sunday night.
The Fatima Squad is: Trevor Blond, Mark Burgess, Jimmy Colihan, Robbie Corso, John Delisanti, John McLaughlin, Matthew Rusin, Brandon Sabino, Grant Sweeny and Brendan Walsh. Gerry Pucci, Tom Burgess and Mike McLaughlin coach the boys.
