Fairfield County Runners Hit Buildup Starting Line

FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn – Runners can expect good running conditions in Fairfield County Sunday morning for the second leg of the Boston Buildup Series in Ridgefield. The 15-kilometer race was postponed last Sunday because of slick roads.

Sundays’s forecast is much more favorable, with a high temperature in the low 40s. The race starts at 9 a.m., and should be even cooler for the more than 300 runners registered for the 9.3 mile race.

Eric McKnight won the series-opening 10K run on Jan. 8 in Norwalk. Anja Krieger-Redwood of Cos Cob won the women’s division as a record number of 418 runners finished the race. The 10K is traditionally the most popular event in the series, which began in 1978.

The race begins at Scotland Elementary School in Ridgefield. Runners return to the starting line on Feb. 12 for a 20K run at the Southport railroad station. The series concludes with a 25-k run on March 4 in Norwalk. For more information and registration information, visit clubct.org.
