For the second time in as many days, the first round of the varsity girls field hockey conference playoffs have been postponed. On Sunday, because of lingering power outages across the state, the four opening round games have been moved to Monday.
No. 4 Staples takes on No. 5 Stamford at Brien McMahon High School, while No. 6 New Canaan plays No. 3 Norwalk at Fairfield Ludlowe High School at 4:30 p.m. No. 8 Westhill faces unbeaten No. 1 Darien at McMahon, while No. 2 Wilton takes on Fairfield Ludlowe on the Falcons' home field.
As news comes in of school closures, however, changes in the playoff schedule may still arise. Teams cannot play on days their school day is canceled.
