Fairfield County Boys Soccer Team Wins in Mass.

FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. --The Everton America Under-12 boys soccer team won a Memorial Day tournament last weekend in Needham, Mass.

The tournament featured more than 400 players from 25 teams. Everton's 12-and-under team defeated Revolution United of Connecticut, Benfica SC of Massachusetts and Princeton SA of New Jersey in the group stages. In the single-elimination round, the Norwalk-based team quickly brushed aside Hammer FC of Massachusetts, 4-0 in the semifinals to advance to the final against AUFC Belmont Cosmos.

Everton scored early in the first half and midway through the second half to take the tournament championship, 2-0.

The top-flight tournament title follows a successful fall season which saw the team win the CJSA Premier League with a 9-0 record, as well as a tournament win at the YMS Columbus Day tournament in Pennsylvania. The team is unbeaten in this season’s CJSA Premier League and lie in second place in the National Premier League.

The team includes Josh De Silva, Norwalk; Chester Glenn, Westport; Zach Flores, Stratford; Kervens Jean-Charles, Norwalk; Agustin Pagan, Shelton; Henry Carter, Westport; Andrew Burwick, New Canaan; Marcus Blair, Norwalk; Connor Fitzgerald, Monroe; Ben van der Merwe, Westport; Colin Hughes, Ridgefield; Daniel Fitzgerald, Monroe; Kion Bruno, Westport; Cam Maquat, Easton; Sergio Silva, Bethel; Michael Medvedev, Stamford and Ryan McNamara, Wilton.
