Fairfield County Boxing Exhibition Benefits Vets

STAMFORD, Conn. - "Fighting for Our Vets" will be a night of exhibition boxing, muay Thai and Brazilian jiu-jitsu that will benefit Homes for the Brave, a Bridgeport-based organization that supports Connecticut’s homeless veterans. C3 Athletics, at 330 Fairfield Ave. in Stamford, will host the event on Dec. 2. 

Spectators can makes donations from $50 to $200. There also will be refreshments, food and raffles. All of the proceeds will go to Homes for the Brave.

According to a press release, Homes for the Brave "provides housing, vocational training and job placement, mental health and addiction services, and life skills coaching to help veterans leave homelessness behind.

"According to the National Coalition of Homeless Veterans, 1 out of 3 homeless men, who sleeps in a doorway or alley in our communities, has worn a uniform and served the United States. Currently, in Connecticut, between 3,000 and 4,000 Veterans do not have homes."
