Equinox Clubs Team With USRowing

Equinox Fitness Clubs in Darien and Greenwich as well as those from the New York-Connecticut metro area, have teamed with USRowing to support the organization's national teams as they train to bring home medals in the 2011 World Championships.

Fairfield County has had broad representation on the U.S. National Teams over the years — currently Charlie Cole from New Canaan, Brian de Regt from Rowayton, Nick LaCava from Weston, and Dan Walsh from Norwalk are members of the Senior National Team and are vying to compete at the 2011 World Championships in Bled, Slovenia, in August.

In the past year, the region has been well-represented on the Junior National Team with athletes Andrew and Charlie Campbell and Marianne Hoeft from New Canaan; Lucy and Rosie Grinalds from Southport; Susan Greenberg, Max Meyer-Bosse and Lizzie Youngling from Westport; Alexandra Zadravec from Fairfield; Graham Anderson and Thomas Stolarski from Weston; and Parker Lange from Darien. Kimberly Hopewell from Ridgefield as well as Henry Cole and Brendan McEwan from New Canaan were members of the 2010 U-23 National Team.

All funds generated from the USRowing/Equinox partnership will go directly to the athletes representing the United States in 2011 and 2012.

Local residents can enjoy a free exclusive one-week free trial membership in June. For every member who registers online and visits the clubs during this time period, Equinox will donate $50 to the U.S. National Team.

Get started by activating your trial and enter Activation Code: USROWING. You must then visit any one of the participating Equinox Clubs in the area, bring your pass and a valid ID to any of the 18 locations, including Mamaroneck and Scarsdale in Westchester County.

For more information, contact USRowing Member Services at 1-800-314-4ROW or email members@usrowing.org.

If you decide to join a club during this time, Equinox will waive the initiation fee. Share this with your friends and families and invite them to participate as well, and help the teams and especially our Main Street Connect neighbors, train for their world championships.
