Duke Plays for National Title

Area lacrosse fans will want to tune in Monday when Duke, with players from Norwalk, Westport, Darien and Weston, will face off against Notre Dame in the Division I championship game. Game time is 3:30 p.m. on ESPN.

Norwalk's Dan Theodoridis, Westport's Robert Rotanz and Weston's Tom Montelli all saw action for the Blue Devils (16-4) in Saturday's 14-13 win over No. 1 Virginia in Saturday's semifinals. Theodoridis, a senior defenseman, picked up two ground balls and caused two turnovers. Rotanz, a sophomore who played at Fairfield Prep, scored a goal and fired four shots. Montelli, a junior defenseman, picked up a ground ball and also fired one shot. Darien's Sam Spillane did not play in Saturday's game, but has appeared in eight games for the Blue Devils.

Duke will be shooting for its first NCAA title. Notre Dame beat Duke, 11-7, on Feb. 20.
