The District 1 Little League baseball tournament heads for its final rounds of pool play this weekend with two teams already qualified for next week's elimination round.

Darien American and Wilton, who meet Saturday, have wrapped up spots in the semifinals. Both are 4-0 in the tournament, and the winner of Saturday's game will secure the No. 1 seed in Pool B. They meet at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Redding Boys and Girls Club.

In Pool A, National Lione leads with a 4-0 record, while North Stamford and Redding are 3-1. National Lione meets Redding Saturday at the Redding Boys and Girls Club at 4:30. North Stamford plays Stamford American at 2 p.m. at Frank Noto Field in Stamford.

Pool play concludes Sunday. The top two teams in each pool advance to the semifinals Wednesday at Springdale. The championship game is scheduled for July 17 at Scalzi Park in Stamford.

Rain forced the postponement of Friday's semifinals in the 9 and 10-year-old tournament. They will be played Saturday. North Stamford meets Norwalk at Scalzi Park at 10 a.m., and Ridgefield National plays Wilton at Chestnut Hill Park at 10 a.m. The winners advance to Sunday's championship game at Scalzi Park at 7 p.m.

In the 9- and 10-year-old softball championship, Darien plays Redding/Easton Sunday at 2 p.m. at Middlebrook School in Wilton. Redding/Easton earned the top seed by going 4-0 in pool play, including a 17-13 win over Darien on July 1.
