Cyclists To Race in Greenwich on Sunday

GREENWICH, Conn. -- The Volvo of Stamford Tour de Greenwich XXVII, a 20-mile bicycle race, will begin at 7:30 a.m. Sunday at Greenwich High School.

The pre-entry fee is $35, and it is $45 on the morning of the race. Each participant will receive a long-sleeve race shirt and a water bottle. A post-ride brunch will be held during the awards ceremony. A winner's jersey will be presented to the champion in each age group. All riders must wear ANSI-approved helmets.

Max Lippolis of Pound Ridge, N.Y., won last year's race in 49:04 to edge Cos Cob's Alex Weil by three seconds. Thomas Cromle of Mount Kisco, N.Y., placed third, Stamford's Cristian Velasquez was fourth and they were both timed in 49:10. The top 25 riders were all within 15 seconds of the champion Lippolis.
