Courville Ready for Senior Open

Veteran golfer Jerry Courville will make his second straight appearance in the U.S. Senior Open beginning Thursday at Sahalee Country Club in Sammamish, Wash. Courville finished tied for 28th in his first Senior Open appearance last year. Courville, a Norwalk native, will tee off at 8:55 a.m. Courville currently works as an instructor at a facility in Southport. He also has taught in Westport.

Courville is best known for his brilliant amateur career, which includes participation in 14 U.S. Mid-Amateurs and 16 U.S. Amateurs. He holds the record for the most match play wins in the history of the U.S. Mid-Am, according to his website. He also won the Connecticut Senior Open last year. The U.S. Senior Open is for players ages 50-and-over. Fred Funk won the tournament last year.
