CBC Rowers Win 4 Golds in Philly

The Connecticut Boat Club won four races and earned the award as the top high school team at the Head of Schuylkill Regatta this past weekend in Philadelphia. The Norwalk-based CBC includes rowers from throughout Fairfield County.

"All in all, it was an amazing day,'' coach Liz Trond said. "The weather was gorgeous, not too chilly, and other than some blustery conditions on the water, our athletes were awesome."

The Women's Varsity 8 won with a team of coxswain Katherine Isaza, Rosie Grinalds, Heather Oudheusden, Abby Stevenson, Chrstine Bragg, Maddie Sterans, Maria Lycouris, India Knight and Alex Enzor. CBC's second boat of cox Andi Cara, Caroline Cochran, Meg Galloway, Deirdre Fitzpatrick, Kirsten Wessel, Whitney Ruhlin, Sarah Schwartz, Emily Wilson and Emily Crump took 13th.

The Non-Varsity 8 also won its race with cox Ali Hornung, Annike Heumann, Courtney Kyritz, Lizzie Steinborne, Alex Minicucci, Olivia Taylor, Kendra Shutts, Bea Nash and Emily Olsen.

CBC also won the Varsity 4+ with cox Ali Hornung, Rosie Grinalds, Christine Bragg, India Knight and Heather Oudheusden. The team of cox Andi Cara, Emily Crump, Deridre Fitzpatrick, Meg Galloway and Caroline Cochran took seventh in the same race. CBC also won the 2x with Lexie Lynn and Jackie Cloud. The Varsity 4 quad took sixth with Lexie Lynn, Abbie Frey, Toru Babchak and Jackie Cloud.

CBC won the Women's Division and the Overall High School Points Trophy. The CBC rowers will compete in the Newport Autumn Rowing Festival this weekend in California, and the New Canaan Sprints on the Norwalk River on Sunday.
