Carver Center 7th-Graders Reach Title Game

The Carver Center's 7th-grade boys basketball team defeated Newtown, 72-62, to reach the finals of the Fairfield County Basketball League B Division playoffs. Norwalk-based Carver will meet Madison on Saturday at 3 p.m. at Greens Farms Academy in the title game.

A day after a thrilling come-from-behind win over Stamford, Carver turned back a stubborn Newtown team with a 21-point fourth quarter. Anthony Burden scored 20 points to lead Carver, including 11 in the fourth quarter.

Jahmerkiah Green-Younger added 18 for Carver, while Alex Jerome scored 14. Pierre Coffey scored 10 and Kyle Davis had eight for the winners.

Carver (18-6) brings a six-game winning streak into Saturday's championship game. Included in that streak is a 61-31 win over Madison in the final regular season game Feb. 19. Madison reached the final with a 50-35 win over Westport PAL.
