Bruno Earns Northeast-10 Honor

Angelo Bruno was rewarded after a big week for the Stonehill College baseball team. The junior first baseman from Norwalk High was named the Northeast-10 Player of the Week.

Bruno hit .400 (6-for-15) with five runs scored, two doubles, three home runs and seven RBI with a stolen base as Stonehill went 2-2. Bruno led Stonehill to a doubleheader sweep of American International College on Saturday as he hit a combined 5-for-7 with three home runs, a double, five runs scored, a stolen base and seven RBIs I for the afternoon. He was 3-for-4 with a double, two homers, three runs scored and five RBI in the Skyhawks’ 9-5 win in game two of the twinbill, after going 2-for-3 with a homer, two runs scored and two RBI in their 9-8 victory in game one.

Bruno became the third Stonehill player to win the weekly award. He is the lone Stonehill player to start all 20 games so far this season and he is hitting .338 with 13 runs scored, four doubles, a team and career-best six home runs and 18 RBI. He is slugging .635 to go with a .451 on-base percentage  and team-high five stolen bases, nine multiple hit and six multi-RBI games. He ranks fourth in the NE-10 with his team-best 16 walks.

Bruno, who played in his 100th career game on Tuesday against Bentley University, has hit .263 (88-for-335) over his career at Stonehill, adding 66 runs scored, 19 doubles, four triples, 11 home runs and 50 RBI with 10 stolen bases.
