Bluefish Set Franchise Win Mark

The Bridgeport Bluefish set a franchise record Friday, edging the Somerset Patriots 15-14 and notching their 79th win of the season.  The victory moves this year’s squad ahead of both the 1999 and 2000 teams, which won 78 games apiece.

The Bluefish led 9-0 after five innings and 15-8 entering the 9th before the Patriots rallied. Kevin Mannix (11-5) matched his career win total coming into 2010, tossing 5? innings and giving up five runs, seven hits and two walks. Jorge Julio picked up his 28th save with a strikeout of Jeff Nettles to end the game.

Josh Miller (12-9) suffered the loss as he lasted 3? frames and allowed eight earned runs, 10 hits, and two walks.

The Bluefish have reached the Atlantic League playoffs and will have a home game on Friday, Sept. 24. Tickets are available on the club's Web site.

The Bluefish continue a three-game series with the Somerset Patriots on Saturday night. First pitch is scheduled for 6:05.
