Bluefish Earn Berth in Playoffs

The Bridgeport Bluefish will return to the Atlantic League playoffs, the first time the team has reached postseason play since 2006.

The Bluefish (41-18, 77-52) clinched a playoff spot by defeating the Lancaster Barnstormers (28-29, 59-68), 11-3, in game one of a doubleheader Wednesday night. Lancaster won the nightcap, 5-3.

Matt Pike (12-5) had a rough start but recovered for the victory in the opener. He allowed three runs in six innings while surrendering six hits and two walks. Bartolome Fortunato served a shutout inning to preserve the win.

Chris Rivera set the Bluefish franchise record with 58 appearances out of the bullpen in the nightcap. He passed Mike Guilfoyle, who set the previous mark in 2003.
