Blue Devils Master Monroe

The Blue Devils, the Norwalk Junior Soccer Association's under-10 boys travel team, dominated Monroe United on Halloween, posting a 7-1 victory. Jonathon Jimenez scored three goals to lead the Blue Devils.

Norwalk set the pace in the first few minutes when Kristo Boci scored off a corner kick by Liam Willkehr. A second goal from midfielder Marcus Blair quickly followed. First-half goalkeeper Connor Belcastro saw little action, as the Blue Devils' continued to dominate possession of the ball. The third goal came on a score from defender Jonathon Jimenez, who took the ball all the way up and put it in the net. Boci scored again for a fourth goal, followed by a fifth by Evan Guerrera, with the assist by Boci, before the half ended.

It was not until midway through the second half that Monroe scored its only goal. Norwalk's goalkeeper, Christian Gavrielidis, and defenders Jeffrey Ramirez, Brendan Duddy and Willkehr smothered Monroe at every offensive thrust. Midfielders Eduardo Vargas and Edward Boccanfuso kept the pressure on, as Jimenez scored two consecutive goals, the second with an assist by Ramirez.

The Blue Devils will play their last game of the season Nov. 7 on their home field, Cranbury Elementary School.
