Balin Leads at Met Open

Danny Balin of Burning Tree in Greenwich took a one-shot lead into Wednesday's second round of the Met Open at Bethpage Black in Long Island. Balin shot a two-under-par 69 in Tuesday's opening round.

"The momentum going into the Met Open has been huge for me," said Balin, who played in the PGA Championship earlier this month. "A win at the Westchester Open earlier this summer and to go out there and compete with those guys at Whistling really geared me up for today. The wind we faced out there [at Whistling Straits] helped me prepare for here."

Woodway's Mike Ballo Jr. shot 76 and is tied for 39th going into the second round. Jerry Courville, playing out of Shorehaven, shot 77 and is tied for 48th.

Following Wednesday's second round, the field will be cut to the low 60 and ties, who will advance to the final round on Thursday. Fans can follow the tournament here.
