Area Rowers are Finalists in Fan's Choice Poll

FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. – New Canaan’s Andrew Campbell, Southport’s Lucy Grinalds and Saugatuck Rowing Club's Eve Green are finalists in the USRowing Fan’s Choice Awards, co-sponsored by row2k Media.

Grinalds is a finalist for the Junior Rower of the Year award. Now a freshman at Harvard, Grinalds rowed on the Junior Champion U.S. Women’s 4-, won the U.S. Nationals Junior 2-, and won a bronze medal in the U.S. Youth National Women’s 8+. She rowed for Connecticut Boat Club before going to Harvard.

Campbell, a sophomore at Harvard, finished fourth in the world championships in the Men’s Lightweight 1x. He won a bronze medal in the event at the World U23 championships and, at 19 years old, is the youngest member of the U.S. National team. He led the voting as of 11 a.m. on Oct. 13. Campbell competed for New Canaan Crew and Maritime Rowing Club.

Green, 79, took a bronze medal in the Masters Nationals and is a key club member at Saugatuck, where she makes contributions in boating safety and communications.

Fans can vote on the row2k.com website. Voting closes at midnight on Oct. 28.
