Area Players Help Duke Take Title

Norwalk's Dan Theodoridis went out a winner. The other players on the Duke lacrosse team from Fairfield County will get the chance to do it all again next year.

The Blue Devils won the NCAA men's lacrosse championship Monday with a 6-5 overtime victory over Notre Dame. C.J. Constabile scored the game-winning goal for Duke. Theodoridis started on defense for the Blue Devils, while Weston's Tom Montelli and Westport's Robert Rotanz also played. Darien's Sam Spillane is also on Duke's team.

The title was the first for Duke. Rotanz, who played at Fairfield Prep, scored nine goals to lead area players. Montelli added four and Spillane had one. Theodoridis started 18 games for the Blue Devils ( 16-4).
