3 Local Rowers Make U.S. Team

Norwalk's Dan Walsh is back on the USRowing national team. Walsh, who won a bronze medal in the men's eight at the 2008 Summer Olympics, was named last week to the team that will compete in the World Rowing Championships in Lake Karapiro, New Zealand. Walsh will be in the third seat on the men's eight. The regatta begins Oct. 31.

New Canaan's Charlie Cole was also named to the team in the men's eight. He is one of five rowers returning to the team that won the gold medal at last year's world championships.

Weston's Nick LaCava also made the U.S. team in the men's lightweight four. He competed on the same boat at last year's world meet.

Walsh took some time off to start his own business, Engine Room Fitness, in California. His business partner is Luke Walton, who also competed in the Olympics. Walsh is in training with the men's team in Princeton, N.J.
