Three Beachside Soccer Clubs competing in the US Youth Soccer Region 1 championships have moved on to the semifinals. They will be in action Monday in Barboursville, W.Va., having completed pool play Sunday. Beachside, based in Westport, is a premier soccer organization, with players coming mostly from Fairfield County.
The under-12 team, coached by Pete Chiavaroli, completed pool play 3-0 with a 2-1 win over the Delco Rangers of Pennsylvania. Beachside plays PDA Pele of New Jersey in the semifinals Tuesday.
The under-15 team, coached by Stamford's Pete Doneit, went 2-1 in pool play. Beachside beat Nordic of Vermont Sunday, 4-0, to advance out of pool play. Three teams went 2-1 in the pool, but Beachside advanced on goal differential. It plays AC Bethesda of Maryland on Monday.
The under-18 team dominated its bracket, going 3-0 and outscoring opponents 9-0. The team concluded pool play with a 3-0 win over the Revolution of West Virginia. It plays TSF Academy Celtic of New Jersey in the semifinals. Beachside is coached by Owen Finberg. The semifinal winners advance to Tuesday's finals.
