RK's Landscaping and TPT Engravers both improved their season records to 5-0 recently to stay atop the Norwalk Cal Ripken League's Minor Division. Furst Properties, which occupies second place in the league's nine- and 10-year-old group, recently improved its record to 3-2.
Meanwhile, the featured game on Opening Day (April 24) was a contest between two Major Division squads of 11- and 12-year olds. The Batter's Box downed Schwartz Law 3-2. Chris Giordano doubled in the tying run and scored the go-ahead run for The Batter's Box. T.J. Copeland had a single, double and triple for Schwartz Law, while A.J. Ibarrando collected two hits.

Pauli's Bagels & Deli 3, The Batter's Box 1
Pauli's pitcher Matt Parlanti hurled a no-hitter, striking out 12 batters, and Zack Azadian went two for three, hitting a game-winning, two-RBI double in the fifth inning. The Batter's Box pitcher Ryan Searles allowed only one hit through four innings, picked off a baserunner and struck out eight.
Schwartz Law 10, Terzian Trucking 2
A. J. Ibarrando and David Balunek both smacked home runs, and Matt McDonald, Owen Haffey and Noah Yokoi each had RBI doubles for Schwartz Law. Pitchers T.J. Copeland, Ibarrando, Yokoi and Balunek combined to strikeout 12. Marco Latella led the offense for Terzian, collecting two hits.
Stepping Stones 7, Pauli's Deli & Bagels 6
Mike Gonzales' walkoff double drove in Wady Almonte, who scored the winning run. Catcher Matt Parlanti threw out three base runners and collected two hits for Pauli's Deli & Bagels.
Schwartz Law 8, Terzian Trucking 2
Schwartz Law's 14-hit attack was led by A.J. Ibarrando with three hits and David Balunek, Luke Schwartz, Ben Czaja and Noah Yokoi with two each. Pitcher Matt McDonald earned the win. Marco Latella doubled and tripled for Terzian.

Nico Petridis singled, walked and scored twice for Terzian Trucking. Matt Galyas doubled twice for The Batter's Box.

Luke Schwartz led the offense with four hits, while T.J. Copeland, Owen Haffey, Matt McDonald and Noah Yokoi had three hits each. Dillon Quinlan-Huertas, Shawn Grant, Jeremy Linton and Matt Parlanti collected hits for Pauli's.

Eric van der Els walked twice, singled and stole two bases to lead The Batter's Box. Matt Galyas was the winning pitcher. Jimmy Fahey doubled and scored the lone run for the Reds.

Andrew Baversfeld scored on a game-winning RBI single by Zach Allen in the bottom of the seventh. Eric van der Els and Matt Galyas both singled twice for The Batter's Box.

RK's Landscaping 15, Shining Stars Daycare 1
Chris Elhers led RK's Landscaping with three hits, and Liam Notely added two doubles. Hugh Clyne, James Stephanowic and Kyle Spezzano combined to throw a no-hitter and notch 14 strikeouts. Harry Acetim led the Shining Stars, striking out six of the eight batters he faced. Acetim also stole two bases and scored his team's run.
TPT Engravers 9, The Original Swanky Franks 7
TPT was led by Brendan Quinlan-Huertas, who homered, and Matt Clark and Billy Neshis, who both tripled. Timely hitting by Chris Venacuso, Jordan O'Brien and Kyle Woodring helped Swanky Franks trim an early 9-2 deficit.
The Original Swanky Frank's 9, Shining Stars 7
Kyle Woodring hit a grand slam for Swanky Frank's, and Jordan O'Brien stole home twice and pitched out of a bases-loaded jam in the fifth inning to record the victory. Shining Stars' pitchers John David Dufort and Justin Longo each recorded five strikeouts, and Pete Neglia went two for two with two RBI.
RK's Landscaping 7, Sono Energy 3
Johnny Thorme collected three hits and four RBI, and Mike Claps and Jack Kircher each had two hits to lead RK's. Sono pitchers Alberto Regaldo, Anthony Socci and Jake Dumas held RK's to just two runs until a fifth inning rally, sparked by a bases-load double by Thorme, broke the game open.
Furst Properties 8, Sono Energy 4
Michael Macari and Matthew Saint-Louis had RBI hits for Furst Properties, and Andrew Matthews' double plated two runs. Catcher Ryan D'Amico threw out two would-be base stealers. Shaki Sumpter, Jack Torrealba and Kyron Martinez led Sono's offense.
RK's Landscaping 7, Furst Properties 3
RK's took advantage of free passes and three timely hits to record the victory. Pitcher Johnny Thorme struck out seven in three innings for the win. Andrew Matthews and Matt St. Louis of Furst Properties combined to strike out nine batters.
TPT Engravers 9, Furst Properties 2
Chris van der Els went three for four to lead TPT, and Chris Druin was the winning pitcher. Ryan D'Amico and Matt St. Louis both hit doubles for Furst Properties.
Furst Properties 5, Sono Energy 2
Furst Properties pitchers Andrew Matthews and Matt Saint-Louis combined to strikeout 10 batters while allowing only three hits. Furst Properties' Liam O'Neill and Matt Saint-Louis turned two double plays, and catcher Jake Buffardi tagged out an opposing runner at home plate.
