Report: Connecticut Teachers Feel Unprepared For Classroom

FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. – More than 60 percent of new teachers say they feel unprepared for some of the demands of managing a classroom, according to findings from state and national surveys.

The Connecticut Mirror reports that Gov. Dannel Malloy and other state officials are finalizing recommendations to address these shortcomings, which include gaining and keeping students’ attention.

The recommendations, drafted by a state-appointed panel, seek to improve accountability among Connecticut teachers and set new standards for the more than 20 colleges in the state that prepare teachers.
