Norwalk Magnet Schools Hold Open House

Updated:  Due to inclement weather conditions, Columbus' open house has been resceduled to February 3 at 6 p.m. Stay tuned for updated information on Jefferson's open house.

Two Norwalk magnet schools are holding Lottery Open Houses on Thursday, Jan. 27 -- Jefferson Science Magnet School  at 6:30 p.m. and Columbus Magnet School at 7 p.m. School staff will explain the schools’ programs, the lottery process and give guided tours of the buildings. If you miss Thursday’s open house, second sessions will be held on Feb. 10 -- 6:30 p.m. at Jefferson and 7 at Columbus.  Applications for both schools are due in person or by mail by March 1 at 4 p.m. and the lotteries will occur on March 17.  Call the school in advance if you’d like to schedule a tour during the day.

Columbus’ program is based on the Bank Street model of education, which integrates art and music into a social studies-based curriculum.  To learn more about Columbus, contact Terry Gaberman at gabermant@norwalkps.org.

Jefferson partners with the  Maritime Aquarium and Stepping Stones Museum for its hands-on science-based program.  To learn more about Jefferson, contact Nikki Bonaventura at bonaventuran@norwalkps.org.
