Norwalk High Prom-Goers Record Memories at Beach

Kristen Benitez pinned a corsage on her boyfriend Mathew Sebastian's lapel. "We've been together since the eighth grade," she said. The Norwalk High School sweethearts and their friends gathered at Calf Pasture Beach on Friday afternoon to take photos before heading to their senior prom.

They met more friends at Cranbury Park a little later to take a "Party Bus" to the Hyatt Regency Greenwich. This year's senior prom theme was "Under the New York Lights."

While Michael O'Callahan waited for his date, his mother, Daniela, adjusted his tie. She made the tie and cummerbund herself to match his date's purple dress. "I made it from the wrap that came with the dress," said Daniela.

Siblings Alex and Thenya Taiyanides were on a prom double date. "It's really great to go together," said little sister Thenya, a junior, who was partnered with senior Chris Jeffery.

Couples basked in the late afternoon sun while their parents snapped away. Printed dresses seemed to be the fashion of the day, although Benitez and Anya Falcone looked like Grecian statues in all white.
