McMahon Singers Belt Broadway Hits

In the mood for show tunes? Come hear the Brien McMahon High School's music department perform famous Broadway hits from "RENT," "Les Miserables," "The Phantom of the Opera," "Into the Woods" and "Wicked." Performances take place at 7:00 p.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

The show has no special sets, putting the focus on the musicians.  A student pit orchestra, conducted by music director Scott Benson, will accompany the singers. “These Broadway scores force the students to extend their technique and take it to the next level," he said. "The students are excited to be a part of a production that gives the instrumentalists a moment in the sun,” says Benson.

Producer Ron Secchi says this production will be different from those in years past. “I think our audience will be blown away by the results.” The students are entirely responsible for the direction and production of several of the components, says director Frank Arcari. “They’ve put a great deal of effort into reaching every member of the audience.”

On Saturday, there will be an auction, including an overnight stay and Sunday brunch at the Hyatt Regency Greenwich and a family four-pack of tickets to the Bridgeport Sound Tigers.

The performances will take place at the Dr. James J. Forcellina Auditorium, 300 Highland Ave. Preferred seating is $15; general admission is $12 for adults and $10 for students and seniors.
