Kids and Adults Draw Together Afterschool

Adults and kids got together after school this week to express themselves through drawing.  On Wednesday, Alex Santamaria, a fifth grader at Brookside and Jed Bosworth, a volunteer from General Electric participated in Draw On!, program sponsored by The Aldrich Museum of Contemorary Art in Rigdefield and the Norwalk Education Foundation. The program is taking place at ten elementary schools across the city and GE is helping out with adult volunteers.  The kids are working on art projects with the theme "What does Norwalk Mean to Me?"  For Santamaria, Norwalk means the sea and the beach.  At Brookside, kids drew on puzzle pieces that will be joined together. Other schools are creating different collaborative art projects, like quilts.

Draw On! is a community program presented by the Aldrich that brings together people of all ages through drawing.  The Aldrich has collaborated with NEF’s Power Hour, a free after school literacy program taught by Norwalk Public School teachers and instructional aides. On Saturday, April 10, the Aldrich will hold a Family Day and display the artwork from all of the schools.
