Dr. Seuss Put to Music at Norwalk School

The wild and wacky characters of Dr. Seuss will come to life on stage at West Rocks Middle School in Norwalk. This Friday and Saturday, April 1 and 2, the school's drama club will perform "Seussical Jr.," a musical based on the author's books.

You and your kids will recognize characters such as the Cat in the Hat, Horton the Elephant, Maysie La Bird, Gertrude McFuzz, Jojo and the Sour Kangaroo.

Sara Golding, West Rocks' choral director, says this is the first time the school has undertaken such an ambitious production with a cast and crew of 50 students. "We are trying to create a program here that gets the kids ready for high school productions," says Golding, who started at West Rocks this school year. She previously taught at Marvin Elementary. "This is such a fun play. Everyone recognizes Dr. Seuss' rhymes."

The shows start at 7:30 p.m. in the West Rocks auditorium. Tickets cost $8 and are available at the door.
