Wilton Agent Helps Sting Finish Crossword

Barbara Martin works seven days a week all year long, but every other year she and her sister, Trudy, go on a three-week adventure. “We’ve been to China, South Africa, Zaire – we’re going to Russia next,” she says. “I loved Italy. We traveled everywhere by train.” And it was on one of those trains that she found herself helping the man sitting next to her with the crossword puzzle. “He was the nicest man, and so was his wife,” Barbara says. “I had no idea it was Sting! He was charming.”

When she’s not abroad helping rock stars find the right words, Barbara is a top real estate agent with William Pitt/Sotheby’s in Wilton. And she’s a big fan of the town she has lived in for the past 33 years. “I tell clients moving to Fairfield County that each town has its own personality,” she says. “If you want involvement in your community, Wilton is a great place to live.” Barbara checks off a mental list of Wilton’s assets – the schools, the library, its churches, the newcomer’s club. “There are lots of neighborhoods in Wilton,” she says, “and people like the two-acre zoning. You can’t see the house next door.”

Barbara usually wakes up at 4 a.m. and walks three miles on her treadmill before heading to her computer. “People think that you can have a day off,” she says, “But you can’t.” Her attitude is that she is in the service business. She’s a “people pleaser.” Her job is all about the clients and she makes it her business to work around their schedules.

Barbara has recently gone into overdrive working the spring market. She recently listed four homes for sale in Wilton and is glad that the harsh winter is almost behind us. “People have been waiting for the weather to improve,” she says. Well the crocuses are out, so let’s hope that homebuyers will follow them.
