Walk to Work and to the Train

The house I’m showcasing today is a luxury home in Rowayton, five minutes on foot from the stores and restaurants and across the road from Pinkney Park, home of Shakespeare on the Sound. What I like about this house is that while it definitely falls into the “luxury” class, it’s only 4,500 square feet -- not such a mega-palazzo.

13 ½ Witch Lane (don’t you just love that address?) is a brand new house with all the requisite features:  four bedrooms plus a super master with two walk-in closets and an enormous bathroom. The basement -- oops, sorry, the lower level  -- is totally finished with a playroom, gym and laundry, as well as an au pair setup.

The rooms on the main floor all work well together. Good flow in a house is one of the first things I look for, as there has to be some order as to how each room relates to the next one. Some people call it Feng Shui, others refer to it as the house’s "vibes." But whatever you want to call it, this house works well. There’s a great kitchen with top-notch appliances that's open to the family room, which is what we all want these days. But if you want to hide away from the kids and read your book in peace and quiet, you can pick either the study or the formal living room -- both are lovely spaces.

A two-car garage is part of the lower level -- and the builder had the foresight to leave space for an elevator, should you feel the need. The price has been reduced to $1,525,000, but the home is also available for lease if you’re not ready to purchase.
