I came across this unusual stone house in North Stamford and just had to tell you about it. It really is a must-see. It used to be the carriage house of sculptor Gutzon Borglum, famous for carving the iconic Mount Rushmore images.
This house was designed to look like an old English country home. It was originally built in 1920 but its obviously been updated quite recently. The setting is lovely almost two and a half acres with frontage on Haviland Brook. It also sports a rustic footbridge and even a waterfall. The in-ground Wagner pool, diving board included, is surrounded by lawns and mature trees.
The house is charming. Youll find lots of wood paneling, fireplaces in the living room, dining room and my favorite in the kitchen. There are four bedrooms, all a good size, and three full bathrooms.
546 Wire Mill Road in Stamford is on the market for $1.345 million.
