The Stamford Board of Realtors held its third quarter membership meeting at the Italian Center in Stamford on Sept. 24, and the main topic of discussion was short sales. Guest speakers were attorney John R. Harness, who discussed the complex steps realtors need to know when listing a short sale as the seller's agent. Attorney Kenneth M. Gruder addressed the fiduciary responsibility to a client when acting as a buyer's agent, and the challenging process in the purchase of a short sale dwelling. Attorney Gary Seymour spoke of the varied complexities the banks face with regard to the various mortgage holders and possible solutions. The event sponsors were Patrick Orr, residential mortgage loan officer with Webster Bank, and Cathleen Stack, associate publisher for real estate for Main Street Connect, publishers of this online community news publication.
