Realtor Takes Time to Educate First-Timers

GREENWICH, Conn. — Danielle Claroni, a Realtor with New England Land Co. in Greenwich, is happy with the status of the real estate market now. The summer was busy, she says. And with interest rates at an all-time low, she says people are more motivated to buy.

This year, many of Danielle's clients have been first-time home buyers moving out of New York. She has helped families who are moving to the suburbs because they want a public school education for their kids. She has also worked with couples planning on starting families.

"I love working with first-timers," Danielle says. "I love their enthusiasm." She enjoys educating them about the housing market - what to look for and what to avoid. "I learn a lot from them, too," she says.

Listening to clients' requirements is key to finding the right property, Danielle says. Some buyers think they know what they want but change their minds once they start looking at homes. One couple saw several houses in their price range that had everything they wanted, but none seemed right. "I realized that what they really wanted was to be in a neighborhood community and not in the woods," Danielle says.

Danielle Claroni cherishes a note she recently received from a happy client: "Thanks for leading us to our new home. We are so happy that we are able to start our family here. Thank you, thank you, thank you!"

Clients aren't the only newcomers Danielle is introducing to real estate. Her son, Tim Claroni, a recent film major graduate from Towson University and an aspiring actor, recently started working in his mom's office to help with rentals. But not for long - he's just landed a part as a policeman in the "The Dark Knight Rises," the third installment in Christopher Nolan's Batman series.

Danielle Claroni has won numerous awards for outstanding sales and achievements, including 2010 Greenwich Realtor of the Year. She also won the Five Star Professional Award for Fairfield and Westchester County, an award voted on by consumers for customer service. She is currently serving as Chairman of the Greenwich Multiple Listing Service Committee.

A Greenwich resident for more than 30 years, Danielle recently launched a blog, IloveGreenwich.com, which combines information on the town, calendars of events, including school sports, with tips related to real estate.
