Kids Will Love This Wilton Home

A great family home has just come on the market in Wilton, and the reason I know it’s a great home is that I used to live in it!

Originally built in 1974, the house was gutted and rebuilt in 2000 to create a spacious family home with five bedrooms, each with its own bathroom. On the second floor there is a large family/playroom with cathedral ceilings as well as a laundry big enough to double as a craft or sewing room. One of the bedrooms has a feature that kids will love – a sleeping loft.

The center of the home is an off-white country kitchen with granite counters, a farmhouse sink, two dishwashers, a DCS range and SubZero refrigerator. Double-sided glass-fronted cabinets separate the kitchen from an informal dining room. There is room for a breakfast table in the kitchen as well as space for cozy seating in front of the fireplace. The formal dining and living rooms are also off the kitchen, and French doors lead out to a large bluestone patio that steps down to the lawn.

Anyone working out of the home will love the large office with a large storage closet just off the mudroom, though the views from the wall of windows can be a tad distracting.

14 Nutmeg Lane, Wilton sits on almost 3.5 acres of level land which includes a pine stand at the front and a large private pond with a dock in the rear. There are extensive perennial gardens all around the property. Asking price is $1.5 milion. There's an open house on Jan. 23, 2011 at 1 p.m.
