Foreclosure Mediation Helps Homeowners Stay Home

Bob Duff, state representative for Norwalk and Darien, was interviewed recently by the Connecticut Law Tribune regarding his role as senate Chairman of the legislature's Banks Committee. The article focused on a bill passed recently to slow foreclosure mediation and prevent banks from filing certain technical motions that could force homeowners out of their homes prematurely.

Duff says that when mediation is successful it helps people stay in their homes, stabilizes families, keeps income flowing to banks and local business and "keeps Connecticut strong."

As of Feb. 1, nearly 9,500 Connecticut cases have completed foreclosure mediation. In two-thirds of cases, he says, homeowners were able to stay in their homes.
