The New York and Connecticut Women’s Council of Realtors (WCR) Chapters, including, WCR New York Chapters: (Dutchess County, Empire Westchester, Greater Hudson Valley) and WCR Connecticut Chapters: (Greater Danbury, Southern Fairfield) welcomed Connecticut and New York Realtors together with their Real Estate boards, sponsors and affiliate members on Sept. 12  to a special event to network for a cause.

The proceeds of the evening were donated to The Newtown Rotary Club-Sandy Hook School Fund. More than 300 people attended the event.

Guests enjoyed appetizers, wine tasting, live music, raffle prizes and a networking Workshop lead by Phil Faranda of J. Philip Real Estate.

Pat Sposata, from Parkway Pest Services, a WCR affiliate member from the Empire-Westchester Chapter, had a grandson at Sandy Hook Elementary School on the day of of the shooting last December.

“He was witness to events that no 7-year-old should be exposed to at his tender age along with many others,'' Sposata said. "We thank God that he survived this tragedy and grieve for those less fortunate. Newtown has suffered dearly and all the families in that bucolic community. Our national outlook regarding our children and their school safety was compromised. We are now searching for ways to change what exists and guarantee the safety of our children."

The Westchester Chapter alone raised $6,000, according to Chapter President Carol Christiansen.

The evening’s host, Clancy Moving Systems, welcomed guests at their new state-of-the-art warehouse facility in Newtown.
