Every Home Is Staged to the Max

The moment she started working on her high school yearbook, Lois Lehman knew she wanted to work in sales. "I discovered that I can talk to anyone at any level and realized that selling is all about building relationships," Lois said when I asked how she had started her career as a realtor.

Lois spent many years working in financial sales before embarking on real estate. The long-time Fairfield resident and single mother of three daughters looked for a job that would enable her to juggle dance recitals and homework, and also provide a stimulating career that could build on her professional skills.

"I find it thrilling to work with people going through changes in their lives. Buying and selling a house is an emotionally laden transaction. Nerves get frayed during the process, but I believe that one of my main strengths as a realtor is the ability to communicate constantly, and this helps manage the stress."

Lois is very particular about the appearance of all the homes she lists. "Buyers can only see a few houses a day, so it is very important that a house be immediately appealing. Think of it as an audition -- the prospective buyer has a limited time to appraise the house they are viewing." Every home she lists is staged to bring out its best qualities. Lois has a team that comes in and does everything necessary to make the house look perfect. The exterior, including any gardens, are also rigorously groomed. Nothing is left to chance.

"Buyers' agents want to know they are bringing their clients to a good-looking house. In this environment, we have to work a little harder, so my houses are all prepped to the max."

Lois Lehman works in Fairfield, Westport and Darien. She is with Al Filippone Associates, a division of William Raveis. You can reach her at lois@221Sold.com or by calling (203) 256-3264.
