Don't Mess With First Impressions

First impressions are the ones that count. And that’s especially true when you’re showing a house to a potential buyer. Here are some tips to help you make sure the house is at its best as far as all the senses are concerned.

* A feast for the eyes. Make sure the house is tidy. Clear all the decks. And that means removing countertop appliances in the kitchen and that crock full of utensils.

* What’s that smell? If something in the house smells funky, track it down. Take out the garbage, change the cat litter, run the dehumidifier if the basement is damp. Place some wand fragrance diffusers in the bathrooms.

* Is music the food of love? A little music will go a long way to making buyers feel at home in a quiet house. Perhaps they’ll fall in love with this one.

* Cookies, anyone? Driving around all day looking at houses gives everyone the nibbles. Fresh cookies on a pretty plate in the kitchen are a nice welcoming touch. You could even bake them in the oven and make the house smell really good. Don’t forget the napkins.
