Cape Turns into Colonial in Stamford

This lovely colonial in North Stamford is so gracious that you’d never know it started life as a cape. It has been totally renovated and updated. Your first view of the house is an inviting front porch flanked by beautifully landscaped beds. Dormers and varying roof lines add more interest.

The rooms are all large and the flow on the main floor is perfect. The nicely crafted kitchen with its large breakfast nook opens into the sunroom and family room. And there’s a playroom on the first floor. A mahogany paneled office is functional and elegant, but my favorite spot is the screened-in porch. You just don’t see them very often on newer homes these days, which is a shame.

There are four bedrooms upstairs and the guest bedroom suite is on the first floor, so it could work well as an in-law or au pair set-up. Outside, carefully sited among a forest of varietal evergreens, is a heated pool encircled by a large patio. The asking price for 977 Sunset Road in Stamford is $1.599 million.
