Agent Takes the Stress Out of Moving

When Greenwich real estate agent Amy Zeeve helps a family find their new home, its means more to her than just closing a deal. She sees the whole process as crafting a relationship that lasts well after the ink on the contracts dries.

“I discovered early on that the relocation process causes stress for everyone involved. My job was to be the calm one, to see through the concerns and negotiate strongly. But that isn't just limited to getting through the deal on the house. That means helping each person,” Zeeve said. She's been a real estate agent with Anderson Associates' since she moved to Greenwich 17 years ago.

When Zeeve says “help,” she means more than just explaining terms and conditions. She took one young mother to all of the nursery schools in town. She's located stables for clients’ horses. Zeeve even took an elderly woman to Target so she could stock up on essentials for moving into her new home.

“The day of the closing does not represent the closing of the relationship,” Zeeve said.

Strewn throughout the Anderson Associates office are tokens of appreciation for Zeeve's efforts. During an interview at Zeeve’s office, agency owner Carolyn Anderson entered the conference room smiling and carrying a vase filled with bright flowers. “Amy gets more bouquets and thank you cards than any real estate agent I know,” Anderson said, making Zeeve blush a little.

The relationships Zeeve tries to build are inspired by her experiences with Carolyn Anderson. “I learned it all from her, she sold me my house when I moved to Greenwich,” Zeeve said.

Zeeve's desire to be a complete resource to her clients prompted her to put together the first Anderson Guide to Enjoying Greenwich. Then only a pamphlet, the book has grown to more than 600 pages over the years and has become a definitive guide to Greenwich, from fine dining to social services.

Zeeve knows her dedication to clients is more than is strictly necessary, but she can't envision putting in the bare minimum of effort. “You have to go the extra mile if you want the bouquet,” she said, laughing and casting a pride-filled, if not slightly embarrassed, glance at the vase.
