Apparently The Washington Post thought so when it ranked him No. 8 out of 15 on its most endangered governors list, based on recent polling results.
The Washington Post cited a “surprising” Quinnipiac Poll that showed Malloy narrowly trailing his likely opponent, Republican Tom Foley, by 43 percent to 40 percent. Malloy will be up for re-election in fall 2014.
Malloy beat Foley by a narrow margin in the 2010 election. Foley and Senate Minority Leader John McKinney of Fairfield are expected to seek the Republican nomination to challenge Malloy, should he run for re-election in 2014.
The Washington Post did give Malloy a presumed “slight edge,” in the future election but said Foley has shown “he’s a proven candidate in 2010 and Malloy hasn’t done much to suggest he’ll skate in 2014.”
