NORWALK, Conn. – The South Norwalk Community Center will host a debate featuring the Democratic candidates in the Norwalk mayoral race Tuesday.
The debate, co-sponsored by Spanish-language newspapers La Voz, El Sol and the Westchester Hispano, will focus on issues affecting Latinos in Norwalk.
The debate is scheduled to start at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the multipurpose room of the South Norwalk Community Center, 98 S. Main St.
Topics scheduled for discussion at the debate include early childhood education, efforts to include undocumented immigrants in the larger community and improving unemployment rates for African-American and Latino residents. Those who attend will also have the opportunity to ask questions if time permits.
Four Democrats are seeking the party’s nomination for the mayoral race: former Police Chief Harry Rilling, District D Democratic Chairperson Vinny Mangiacopra, Common Council member Matt Miklave and former Town Clerk Andy Garfunkel. Norwalk’s Democrats will decide on a candidate in a primary on Sept. 10.
