NORWALK, Conn. U.S. Rep. Chris Murphy is the candidate of choice in Tuesday's primary for a cadre of Norwalk Democrats, including the Norwalk Democratic state delegation, according to a statement.
"I've worked with Chris Murphy in the state House of Representatives and the state Senate. He's smart, a hard worker and knows how to navigate through the partisan divide to get results. I've seen it first hand and know that he will be an excellent United States Senator," state Sen. Bob Duff said in a statement.
Murphy, the nominated Democratic candidate, is facing a primary challenge Tuesday from former Secretary of the State Susan Bysiewicz. Both hope to fill the seat being vacated by Sen. Joseph Lieberman.
"Chris is the right person at the right time," state Rep. Chris Perone said in the statement. "He has an impressive record in Congress, gets the job done and will serve us well in the Senate."
"Congressman Murphy works hard for all the people in Connecticut. Chris has never forgot where he's from and understands the needs of those struggling to pay their bills and the middle class that drive the economic engine in this country," state Rep. Bruce Morris said in the statement.
"As a former colleague of Congressman Murphy in the state Legislature and as a legislative aide in the U.S. Senate, I feel confident he will be the kind of constructive and thoughtful senator who can make the U.S. Senate a productive institution once again," former Mayor Alex Knopp said in the statement.
