Jim Himes' Push To Prevent Food Stamp Cuts Fails In House

FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. -- U.S. Rep. Jim Himes of Greenwich railed against proposed cuts in the nation’s food-stamp program on the floor of the House on Thursday, but the plan passed, 217-210, according to the Washington Post. 

Himes, a Democrat, voted along with all members of the Democratic caucus present in voting against the plan. The House will now negotiate with the Senate over a final version.
