In-Person Voter Registration Deadline Is Tuesday In Norwalk

FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. -- The deadline to register to vote in next week's municipal elections in Fairfield County and all of Connecticut is 8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 29, Secretary of the State Denise Merrill reminds residents.

To cast a ballot in the municipal elections on Tuesday, Nov. 5, you must be register in person at your town or city's offices. (The mail-in deadline has already passed.) 

Registered voters who are not able to vote at polling places on Election Day may also pick up applications for absentee ballots from town clerk offices. Absentee ballots are for those who will be out of state or unable to vote due to illness, physical disability or other reasons listed by state law. Absentee ballots will be available until Monday, Nov.4.

“Municipal elections this Nov. 5th represent a real chance for the voters to make their voices heard on the crucial budget and educational issues facing many towns in Connecticut,” said Merrill, a Democrat and Connecticut’s chief elections official. “Choosing municipal leaders is one of the most important civic responsibilities, so I urge anyone who wants a say in the future direction of their community in these tough times to register to vote in person by 8 p.m. October 29th.”

Polls will be open from 6 a.m. until 8 p.m. Tuesday Nov. 5, for municipal elections in most Connecticut cities and towns. Voters to go online at www.sots.ct.gov to download a voter registration form or application for an absentee ballot, view your town or city ballot, find out if you are registered to vote and look up where your polling place is located.
