Foley, a Republican from Greenwich who announced in September that he is exploring a re-run for governor, posted a video on YouTube titled "Wait A Second."
In it, Foley invites residents of New York City who fear the new mayor, progressive Bill de Blasio to move to Connecticut -- but not until voters "probably" elect a new governor in Connecticut. "So enjoy one more year in your city, and then come join us in Connecticut under new leadership, heading in a better direction," he says in the video from his committee.
The Republican hopeful Tweets via @TomFoleyCT, "Wait A Second! Check out my new ad: New leadership and policy will bring people, jobs back to CT."
The Connecticut State Democratic Party blasted back via Twitter @CTDems, "#TeaParty @TomFoleyCT Talks 2 New Yorkers in his debut ad 4 #CT14 cycle. Out of touch, much? #FoleyFollies #Foleypriorities #ctpolitics #nyc."
At least three other Republican candidates have also announced the formation of exploratory committees to run for governor next year: Danbury Mayor Mark Boughton, Senate Minority Leader John McKinney of Fairfield and state Sen. Toni Boucher of Wilton.
