Gov. Dannel Malloy, in response to a proclamation issued Thursday evening by President Barack Obama, called for flags to fly at half-staff from sunrise to sunset to mark the day 50 years ago when Kennedy was assassinated in Dallas.
“Half a century after his assassination, President John F. Kennedy’s call to action for every citizen to better our great nation and serve our fellow man continues to inspire generation after generation of Americans,” Malloy said. “We should all take a moment today to pay tribute to this extraordinary public servant and reflect on how we each can do our part to carry on President Kennedy’s legacy.”
The Democratic Town Committee, CityCenter Danbury and the city of Danbury will hold a ceremony at 6 p.m. Friday at Kennedy Park in honor of the slain president. The park is on Main Street between Kennedy Avenue and Elm Street in Danbury.
