He will appear on both the Republican and Independent party lines for November's election in the race for the 4th Congressional District.
“I am proud to receive the endorsement of the Independent Party,” Debicella said in a statement. “Washington has done nothing but point fingers and as a result we are stuck with nothing but gridlock. It is time we sent someone down to Washington who will represent the needs of the district and what’s best for Connecticut. I am proud to be running a campaign of specific ideas on how to grow the middle-class, create more jobs, reduce healthcare costs and improve transportation in Connecticut.”
Debicella, who is challenging incumbent Democrat U.S. Rep. Jim Himes, cited the differing views between the two candidates when it comes to being an independent voice for the Fourth District.
“While I want to be an independent voice that is beholden to the people I represent, Jim Himes wants to be beholden to his party and Washington special interest groups,” Debicella said in a statement.
“Whether it is his $20,000 plus lobbyist sponsored trip to the Four Seasons in Vail, Colorado, the number of lobbyists he employs, or the fact that he allows the very same lobbyists he vacations with to write legislation for him. I want to go to Washington to be an Independent voice and a fierce advocate for the people of Connecticut, not become an advocate for Washington.”
