“They’re such a waste,” state Rep. Jack Hennessy, D-Bridgeport, told NBC Connecticut.
Hennessy told NBC that the discarded bags are an "unsightly nuisance."
Westport has had regulations in place since 2008 that ban the use of most plastic bags in grocery stores.
