Debicella, a Republican, is a businessman from Shelton and a former state senator. He is currently running against Democratic incumbent Jim Himes for the Fourth District’s seat in the House of Representatives, which includes most of Fairfield County.
In a recent interview with the Daily Voice at his campaign headquarters in Fairfield, Debicella outlined where both parties have gone wrong in the healthcare debate. He said that rather than repeal the Affordable Care Act, he would want to bring in new ideas to take it in a different direction so that its goals are accomplished while having less of a negative impact on the economy.
“Instead of Obamacare, which has hurt the middle class to cover some of the uninsured but not really a lot of them, we can actually help the middle class in healthcare costs and cover more of the uninsured,” Debicella said.
